Psychological First Aid
The NCTSN also has resources for responders on Psychological First Aid (PFA; En Español). Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) – As of October 3, disaster assistance is currently available to select counties in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, as well as the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Military Relief Organizations and Emergency Financial Help: (For active service members) Assistance with serious financial problems (Rent, utility, car repair, emergency travel, funeral expenses, medical and dental expenses)

The American Red Cross: In partnership with Military Aid society, provide financial assistance for active duty, National Guard or reserve service members and their immediate family members, retirees and their spouse/widow. Funds for emergency travel, burial, food, shelter, etc.

TRICARE Extended Care Health Option (ECHO): Provides additional financial assistance to TRICARE beneficiaries with special needs to help cover the cost of services and supplies beyond what TRICARE plans offer.

VA financial hardship assistance: for unexpected expenses (family healthcare expenses, unable to pay copay bills, debt forgiveness and more.

USSOCOM Warrior Care Program (Care Coalition): Targeted group is SOF (green beret, navy seals, marine and AF SOF) Emergency financial assistance to recovering service members who suffer traumatic injuries on and off duty.

VFW’s Unmet Needs Program : Financial grant for members (Active duty, national guard and reserves and their families). Up to $2,500 for unexpected financial difficulties. This is a grant and they don’t have to repay it.

Operation Home Front: provides financial assistance to families of active service members, including those in the Guard and Reserve. Operation Homefront's Critical Financial Assistance program offers emergency financial grants to help with critical needs, such as rent, utilities, car repairs, overdue bills, moving, food, emergency travel and more.
