As of January 1, 2006, the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (NCDCD) requires all prospective owner/operators of child care centers to attend a two-day Child Care Center Pre-Licensing Workshop prior to being issued a license to care for children.
Although not required for licensure, persons interested in opening a family child care home are also strongly encouraged to attend a one-day workshop that is a comprehensive review of the North Carolina Family Child Care Home rules and regulations. The information presented will focus on family child care home licensing information; detailed information regarding program start-up and operation as it relates to budgeting for quality family child care homes.
